POW GENERAL MEETING WEDNESDAY 24th AUGUST

POW’s next general meeting will be this Wednesday 24th August, 7pm at 22 Tiernan St, Footscray. If you would like to get more involved in your community or just meet other members of POW, please come along. We will be discussing our strategic plan and roles up for renewal at our AGM in September, so it’s a perfect occasion to come and let us know what you’d like from POW and to happen generally in your community over the coming year!

Please bring a small offering of food or drink to share with others.

EMPOWERING COMMUNITY DRINKS WORKING GROUP MEETING THIS SUNDAY

If you’re looking for a way to get more involved with POW, joining our EmPOWering Community Drinks working group is a good way to ease into it – and to get to know other members better.

POW’s monthly drinks bring people together around a theme with a presentation, facilitated discussion and time to mingle and meet new people. We are looking for people to help us organise these events – sourcing and briefing presenters, facilitating discussion, promoting, setting up and packing up.

If you’re interested, please join us this SUNDAY 24th July at the Dancing Dog Cafe, 42 Albert St, Footscray at 3pm.

EMPOWERING COMMUNITY DRINKS WORKING GROUP – YOUR CHANCE TO GET MORE INVOLVED WITH POW

Thank you to all of you who came to our second EmPOWering Community Drinks and made it such a success.

Thanks to Carol and Kate who created an event with such a buzz!

It really was a wonderful feeling in the room and great to see people swapping ideas and information about their neighbourhood.

Our next drinks will be on the 19th of June from 3-5 at the Dancing Dog. The theme will be sharing and swapping resources.

After that Carol has committed to organising one more the following month. But if we are to continue these wonderful events we will need a group of people to help.

So if you’ve enjoyed our drinks and want more; or if you’ve been wanting to get involved with POW and wondered what you can do; or if you have ideas on how we can improve our events, then please join us at the Dancing Dog on Friday 27th June at 2pm.

If you can’t make it to the Dog at that time, but would like to be part of our working group, please email membership@pow.org.au and we’ll keep you in the loop.

EmPOWering Community Drinks

Imagine if you could source most of your family’s food, not just locally but from urban gardens in Melbourne’s west. Imagine sharing your wheelbarrow, your drill or even your car with your neighbours.  Imagine regular beer brewing nights or bottling days with likeminded friends, you haven’t even met yet! Imagine swapping a regular massage for regular home cooked meals. With an empowered and connected community, the possibilities are endless.

POW has a vision of such a community in the West, but we need a broad base of likeminded and enthusiastic people to make it happen. We know such people are everywhere in the West and we’d like to bring them together.

So…join us for a drink,  share your dreams and meet likeminded people:

3pm, Sunday 6th March.

Dancing Dog Cafe, 42a Albert St, Footscray

This event is FREE, but please RSVP:  membership@pow.org.au
